Troop 108 will hold it’s summer Court of Honor on Tuesday, May 24th, in the Fellowship Hall at Unity Presbyterian Church. A meeting for scout parents starts at 7pm (scouts should report to our normal meeting room at that time) and the actual Court of honor begins at 7:30pm. During the parent meeting plans for summer camp and such will be discussed.
During the Court of Honor our own Dan Cockerill will give a short presentation on Family Friends of Scouting (FFOS) which is the annual fundraising campaign to raise the operating funds necessary to provide a quality Scouting program in Palmetto Council. Every year there is a need for financial support for existing programs, developing new programs and to ensure our council camp remain in tip-top shape to support scouting in our council.
The essence of the Family Friends of Scouting campaign, is raising money to help the Palmetto Council defray the actual cost of delivering and running the Scouting program. Special events and fundraisers pay only a portion of the cost. Give Scouts and volunteer Scouters your support by helping the Scouting program with your tax deductible pledge.
Please Note: All families should bring a 2-liter cola or two and/or some finger food (cookies, crackers, chips) to the Fellowship Hall with them and leave them on the tables near the kitchen. We will have a time of refreshment and fellowship at the close of the Court of Honor.
Lets come out and publicly recognize the achievements of our scouts over the past 6 months.
Any second year scouts that are interested in helping out at the 2011 Cub Scout Day Camp this year on June 20-24 need to fill out an applicaiton (available below in PDF format) and bring it to the troop meeting as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please direct them to ASM Hendel at a troop meeting.
Since we missed our usual Earthday campout and canoeing fun this year due to bad weather, we’ve scheduled a one-night makeup campout at the same location (ASC Greenway – Dairy Barn Entrance) for May 6th & 7th.
Cost is $15 (those of you who paid for the cancelled Earthday event will have your campout paid for) and permission slips will be handed out at the May 2nd meeting and must be brought with you when you come to the campout.
Parents are to bring their scouts to the dairy barn on the ASC Greenway between 5pm and 5:30pm on May 6th and pick the scouts up at the same location at noon on May 7th.
Scouts should consult their Boy Scout Handbook for a list of things that should and should not be brought on a scout outing.
As of January of this year, scouts and adults are required to use the newly released version of the BSA medical form when getting their physicals. Please use the link below to download a copy of the Form in PDF format.
Make a copy of the original physical form along with the insurance card(s) that apply to the person the physical form is for and submit the copies to “Miss Donna” for inclusion in the troop’s records. Be sure to file the original physical form away in a safe place in case it is needed later.
Because of impending weather the ASC Greenway has asked the troop not to offer canoe rides. This was in respones to potental safety isues that could arise from heavy rain and lightning with are forcasted on Saturday.
Troop leaders then deciaded to cancell the troops camp out as well. Contact the scout master if you have any questions.
