Thank You!
We would like to give a big thank you to ASM Bob Ludolph and all of the Scouts and Scouters who participated in today’s equipment round up. Those helping make a huge difference today were:
Bob Ludolph, Nichole Ludolph, Ben Ludolph, Zack Ludolph, Britt Helms, Austin Hendel, Matthew Finch, Stephen Thompson, Grant Fries, Gary Whitlow, Aidan Puzzio, Noah Ross, Jayci Vogel, Bill Murphrees, Tracy Ross, Kevin Hendel, David Harllee and Steve Finch
We would also like to thank Mrs. Ludolph for cataloging everything and putting up with Mr. Ludolph.
ASM Ludolph is the Troop Equipment Chairman and he led today’s crew as we pulled EVERYTHING out of the equipment room and both trailers.
Everything in the Troop’s equipment inventory was inspected and properly packed. Every tent was assembled, inspected and packaged (Thank you Mrs. Vogel for repairing several tent bags). Every Patrol Box was inspected, cleaned and inventoried, and all other equipment was inspected and properly put away.
The equipment room looks awesome and today’s work will really show when the Troop travels.
We will be looking to the Troop’s Quartermasters to help keep the equipment organized and in good condition moving forward, but it is also the job of every scout.

Our Annual Beach Sweep event is right around the corner and we’ve really only got ONE meeting between now and then to get registration and payments taken care of. You’ll find the permission slip linked below. Just print this out, fill it out, sign it somewhere on the front and send it with your scout to either the August 20th PLC meeting or to the regular August 27th meeting. We won’t be meeting on September 3rd because of the Labor Day holiday. The event is the following weekend – September 7-9, 2012.
The Troop will be camping again at Lakewood Campground in Myrtle Beach. We will camp Friday night, clean our beach Saturday morning and play in the sun Saturday afternoon.
The cost of Beach Sweep is $75.00. This includes camp fees, travel, Saturday Breakfast, Lunch and the Saturday Evening Dinner Show. Also Sunday Breakfast is included. Boys WILL need to bring money for supper on the road going down and breakfast coming back and for other drinks and goodies they nay want to purchase while at the campground.
Departure will be at 5:30pm on Friday, September 7th at the Scout Hut. We will return to the Scout Hut at about 1:30pm on Sunday, September 9th, 2012.
The attached permission slip is due by Monday August 27th at our Troop meeting.
This is a reminder to our adult leaders that we have a troop planning meeting scheduled for Thursday night, August 16, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 at the scout hut.
Now that we have more information from the district kickoff, we should be able to plan out the next 12 months of Troop 108’s scouting adventure.
See you there!
We will be having a troop housecleaning day this Saturday, August 18th, from 8am until noon’ish at the Scout Hut. This would be for all troop & patrol quartermasters and anyone else who would like to help get our supplies in order for the upcoming year.
We will be doing the following:
This would be a great time for the boys’ to speak up and let the leaders know what they think the troop needs (realistically of course).
As you can imagine, the more the merrier for Saturday. Boys will earn service hours for their time on this project.

Please plan on arriving at Carmike Cinema 7 on Cherry Road (behind the Super Bi-Lo) no later than 7pm on Monday, August 13th, 2012. The movie that we will see is The Three Stoogies (PG) which starts at 7:15pm. The movie has a run time of an hour an a half, so you should be coming out of the theaters and ready for pickup between 8:45 and 9:00pm.
Cost to enter is $2.00 and refreshments are available for purchase at the refreshment stand inside the lobby. Parents are certainly invited to enjoy the movie with us.
Scouts should be sure to wear their red Troop 108 t-shirt.
Troop 108 will converge on the Cinema 7 theater in Rock Hill on August 13th, 2012 to enjoy a movie and some concessions.
It is too far ahead to tell what movies will be available to choose from or the actual show times, but we’re guessing that $10 should get each scout in and allow him to purchase some concessions to enjoy during the movie.
Scouts should wear a scout-related t-shirt and closed toed shoes and are responsible for transportation both to and from the movie. Click on the link above if you need directions to the theater.
Sargent David Bivins was nice enough to take Troop 108 scouts who needed a jail visit to complete Crime Prevention merit badge on a tour of the Fort Mill Police Department on Monday night. The scouts learned about computer aided dispatch, the sally-port, booking procedures and got to spend a little time in an actual cell.
Thanks to the Fort Mill Police Department and to Sargent Bivins for allowing us to tour their facility and learn a little more about crime prevention in our community.
