Fall Camporee Info

The troop will be venturing out to Camp Conley Clark for the Fall Camporee on October 12-14th, 2012.  The theme of the weekend revolves around the Department of Natural Resources and how it serves the citizens of South Carolina.  There will be archery and shotgun shooting among other activities for those that meet the age requirements for each activity.

The troop will depart the Scout Hut at 5:30pm on Friday, October 12th, 2012.  Scouts not present with their gear loaded and ready to go may be left behind.

The troop will return to the Scout Hut at noon on Sunday, October 14th, 2012.  Scouts will call about 20 to 30 minutes in advance of our arrival to make sure that you are aware that they will soon need to be picked up.  Please be on time to retrieve your scout and his gear.

Cost for the trip is $25.00.  Scouts should also be prepared to give whoever is transporting them $5 cash to help defray the cost of personal vehicle use.

Scouts must have a current BSA physical in the troop files and must bring a signed permission slip (found below in PDF format) when they arrive on Friday evening.

Personal Fitness & Emergency Preparedness Merit Badges

Attention Troop 108 Boy Scouts who are Second Class or higher in rank:

ASM David Isner will be offering the “Personal Fitness” Merit Badge starting at next Monday’s meeting (September 24th.).

Scouts will be required to provide a current copy of their current BSA Medical form part “C” to participate. (All scouts who’s records are current will be provided by the Troop. Mr. Finch can answer any Medical date questions at snfinch @ comporium.net [remove the spaces in the email address before attempting to email])

(Other records will be required for this course and details will be provided at the first meeting.)

ASM Mr. Isner could also use Scouts who have already completed this Merit Badge as well as registered adults to assist.

ASM David Isner will also be offering the “Emergency preparedness” starting on Saturday September 29th starting at 9:00am and ending at approximately 10:30.

ASM Mr. Isner can also use registered adult help in this course.

Scouts who are interested in the “Personal Fitness Merit badge” simply need to come to Monday’s meeting.

Scouts who are interested in the “Emergency Preparedness” Merit Badge need to either sign up at Monday’s meeting or email Mr. Finch at snfinch @ comporium.net [remove the spaces in the email address before attempting to email] to register.

NOTE!

Both of the Merit Badges offered require extensive work outside of the classroom. The “Personal Fitness” Merit Badge requires 90 days of consistent record keeping and the “Emergency Preparedness” Merit Badge requires family meetings as well as the assembly of a family home emergency kit.

While this is an awesome opportunity to work on TWO EAGLE REQUIRED merit badges, please be aware of your time commitments.
