It’s time to think about summer camp! We will be attending Camp Bob Hardin from June 29th through July 5th , 2014. The final costs have not been determined, but based on last year’s expenses, we are estimating this year’s cost to be $250.00 per scout. Any differences between the estimate and actual cost will be adjusted with the last payment.
We are offering the following payment schedule for scouts that would like to attend:
Monday, February 10, 2014 – $50.00
Monday, March 10, 2014 – $50.00
Monday, April 7, 2014 – $50.00
Monday, May 12, 2014 – $50.00
Monday, June 9, 2014 – Remaining Balance Due
Registration will close on Monday June 9th
Merit Badges: Merit Badge selection will be available as soon as CBH provides information
Health Forms: All scouts and leaders attending must have their updated medical forms (parts A, B, and C) on file with the troop NO LATER THAN June 9, 2014. Please make sure the forms will be current through the week of camp.
The upcoming Polar Bear campout will be at Camp Conley Clark on January 17 through the 19th. Permission slips and payment are due by the end of the troop meeting on January 13th.
Note that the boys are out of school on the 17th, so our plan is to leave mid-afternoon – though an actual departure time is still being determined. This will allow the group to get to the site and get camp set up before darkness sets in.
Cost for the trip is $30 plus $5 if your scout plans to shoot (scouts 13+)
Unless your scout has made arrangements with Mr. Harllee to leave with the setup crew that is leaving early, scouts should be at the scout hut at 5pM on Friday.
Scouts planning to go to the shrine bowl on Saturday – remember that the Beacon doesn’t take debit cards , so be sure to bring plenty of cash for supper & money for the drivers to help cover gas.
The troop always sends a contingent of scouts down to Spartanburg to assist with selling programs, and concessions for the Shrine Bowl each December. The proceeds go to the Shriner Children’s Hospitals and our scouts not only have a great time, but earn service hours as well.
Scouts should bring money $5 for gas money as well as some money to eat breakfast on the way down and to dine at the famous Beacon for supper before returning home at the end of the day.
Again this year, Troop 108 will be sponsoring an Angel on the Unity Angle Tree.
We have a selected a bike and helmet for a 6 year old boy.
Scouts who would like to contribute to the Angel Tree Bike fund should bring donations to Mr. Finch by the December 9th meeting or use the buttons below to donate via PayPal.

Several years ago Dan Cockerill was Scoutmaster of Troop 108 and he started a tradition that is carried forth at the end of each scout meeting. All of the scouts and leaders form a large circle with arms crossed and holding each others hands. There we recite a strange but insightful little saying that speaks volumes about what we, as leaders and parents, hope our scouts get out of the program. It is followed by the traditional Scoutmaster’s Bennediction. This little saying goes like this:
Be who you is
‘Cause if you be who you ain’t
You ain’t who you is
Truer words were never spoken.
