Rain moved the opening campfire inside last night but didn’t dampen the spirits of the scouts.
Rain continued overnight, but this morning seems to be dry , other than being dripped on from the trees, and the scouts are “up and at ’em” and headed to breakfast and a fun-filled week.
Members of Troop 108 hit the road to spend a week at Camp Bob Hardin this week. Note that the Hendel family came back down from Connecticut to go with us! Have a great week of fun and adventure, scouts. You too, leaders! 🙂
Thank you to the scouts that stepped up to try for the ASPL position in the troop. Interviews were given, speeches were made, votes were cast and in the end, congratulations to Sam Cecil for being elected to serve the next 6 months as ASPL and followed by 6 months as SPL.
Matthew Finch’s Eagle Project will be on July 19 starting at 9:00.
We will meet at the Rush Pavilion on the ASC Greenway.
The project will be to update 6 campsites and there will be a lot of work for scouts of all ages.
We will be putting in new tables, cleaning and restoring the fire pits and removing any limbs or trash.
Lunch will be provided.
If you have any questions, please call 803-487-4513
Scouts should arrive at the Bi-Lo parking lot on Sunday on June 29th no later than 11am. They should be in full uniform (we always travel in full uniform) and bring a case of bottled water and their expertly packed footlocker. They should bring their medications to the med station that will be set up and also be prepared to provide the combination to their footlocker’s lock.
We will plan to stop and grab a quick bite on the way to AND from camp, so be sure to save extra money for that.
Scouts will return to the same location for pick-up on Saturday, July 5th around noon to 1pm and will call when we are about 30 minutes away.
Be sure to reference the list at this location for a fairly complete listing of the things to bring to camp – and those that you shouldn’t bring.
Congratulations to Tracy Ross who was presented his Wood Badge beads tonight. Another Owl in the nest. Congratulations!
Britt Helms was recently honored for his association with Troop 108 over the past 40 years. Britt joined the troop as a boy in 1974 and earned his Eagle Scout award in 1979. He served as Scoutmaster of the troop from 1992 to 1994, the troop’s 50th anniversary. His son, Britt Helms, Jr. earned his Eagle in the troop in 2010.
Swim tests will be held on June 4th at the Complex on the Greenway. from 6:00pm to 8:30pm
Come dressed in your swim trunks and bring a towel. There is a $5 charge for scouts who are not members of the complex.
Another Opportunity to take the test is on June 11th at the pool in the Springfield community from 6pm to 7pm. There is a $3 fee for this test.
Scouts who can’t take the swim test prior to camp can take the test after arriving at camp.
