The upcoming Polar Bear campout will be at Camp Conley Clark on January 16th through the 18th, 2015. Permission slips and payment are due by the end of the troop meeting on January 12th.
Note that the boys are out of school on the 16th, so our plan is to leave mid-afternoon – though an actual departure time is still being determined AND WILL BE COMMUNICATED AT THE Jan 12 TROOP MEETING. This will allow the group to get to the site and get camp set up before darkness sets in.
Cost for the trip is $30
Unless your scout has made arrangements with Mr. Ludolph to leave with the setup crew that is leaving early, current plans are that scouts should be at the scout hut, ready to depart at 5PM on Friday.

The Junior Assistant Scoutmaster is a position of responsibility that will “follow the guidance of the Scoutmaster in providing support and supervision to other boy leaders in the troop. Upon his 18th birthday, a junior assistant Scoutmaster will be eligible to become an assistant Scoutmaster.” (Definition excerpt from bsahandbook.org.)
To be considered for this position you must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Achieved the rank of Eagle Scout
- Have served on staff for a district or council event.
- Have completed S.E.A.L.S or NYLT training
- Request a Scout Master Conference and Board of Review

The troop always sends a contingent of scouts down to Spartanburg to assist with selling programs, and concessions for the Shrine Bowl each December. All proceeds go to the Shriner Children’s Hospitals and our scouts not only have a great time, but earn service hours as well.
Scouts should bring money $5 for gas money as well as some money to eat both breakfast on the way down and to dine at the famous Beacon for supper before returning home at the end of the day.

The Troop 108 winter Court of Honor is scheduled for Monday, December 8th. Please plan to join us in the old sanctuary to celebrate all of the boy’s achievements. They all have been working hard and we know that you will be surprised by how much they have accomplished since last spring.
There will be a parent meeting that will start at 6:15pm and the Court of Honor will follow at 7:00. We will be discussing troop business, including summer camp plans, and announcing some exciting changes in troop leadership.
Please plan to bring finger foods to share. The troop is providing desert.
It is time to re-register your scout(s) in the Boy Scouts and Troop 108 for another year. Troop 108’s annual fee for re-registration is $50.00 per scout. The troop committee has agreed that this can be broken up into two equal payments using the appropriate PayPal buttons below, or can be paid in full by using that specific PayPal button below.
As always, the troop treasurer also accepts cash as payment. Note that PayPal fees have been added to the base amount of each payment below to cover the cost of using the PayPal service.
The December payment needs to be made prior to December 31st, 2014, and the January payment needs to be made prior to January 31st, 2015.

Any scout, First Class rank or higher, who is interested in running for Assistant Senior Patrol Leader of the troop should contact Scoutmasters Harllee and Ludolph at tonight’s meeting. The Scoutmasters reserve the right to deny a scout’s request to run if they feel that the scout isn’t yet ready to fill these big shoes or if the scout has areas in his personal behavior that need work first.
Remember that this is a year-long commitment – the first six months you serve as ASPL and while doing so learning how the SPL job should run. Then, after six months, you are promoted to SPL and a new ASPL is elected.
The election will be held at the December 1st, 2014 meeting and results will be announced at the troop’s Court of Honor on December 8th.
The past couple of years Troop 108 has sponsored a bicycle for a young boy from the Unity Presbyterian Church Angel Tree.
This year we have been asked if we would sponsor a Scooter and helmet for a deserving child. If you would like to participate, please bring any donation to the next couple of meetings and see Mrs. Ludolph or Mr. Finch.
Dallas’ Eagle Project has two workdays that have been scheduled for Saturday November 15, 2014 9am – 4pm and on Sunday November 16, 2014 12:30pm – 4:30pm.
Please gather at 835 Springfield Parkway, Fort Mill, SC 29715 and bring work gloves and wear work clothes.
Lunch will be provided on Saturday – Snacks will be provided on Sunday.
