Welcome RoadRunner Patrol!

We would like to welcome our newly “bridged” Webelos II scouts into Boy Scouting and into Troop 108.   They have formed the Roadrunner Patrol and will soon be zooming past all of the other birds in the troop.

Troop On Display & BBQ Sale

Don’t forget that the annual Troop On Display event is happening on March 19th and 20th.  Scouts should gather at the Scout Hut at around 5:30pm and we will begin setting up the model campsite for Saturday’s event.

When we’re done (or it gets dark) we’ll order pizza (bring $5 to help with the cost) and watch a movie or we will race pinewood derby cars (don’t forget to bring your car).

We’ll sleep overnight at the scout hut and then get up Saturday morning, have a light breakfast and run the Troop on Display event from 10am until 2pm.  A BBQ lunch will be provided for scouts helping with Troop on Display.

Around noon we will be welcoming Webelos scouts into the troop at our bridging ceremony.

The adults will also be selling BBQ at the Scout Hut from 10am until 2pm to help fund equipment needs in the troop.

Troop 108 Eagle Scout Lost In Car Accident

It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of Alex Wright who received his Eagle Scout in Troop 108 in 2007.   Alex and his mother, Brenda, were involved in a traffic accident earlier today (03/08/10) in West Virginia.

Alex was one of the founding members of Venture Crew 422 sponsored by the ASC Greenway.

Details are still sketchy but reports are that Brenda, who plans and carrys-out York District campouts,   is in a West Virginia emergency room and is listed as being in stable condition.

Please keep this family and the scouting family in your thoughts and prayers as they work through this loss and begin the healing process.

Scout Discount Card Sale

Any scout interested in participating in the Boy Scout Discount Card sale this year needs to let either Carolyn Wacaster or Britt Helms know ASAP.

This year’s card is chock full of savings opportunities and even features a few coupons that are good over and over.   The value is at least $650 in savings.

Scouts will earn $5 for every $10 card they sell, so ths is an excellent way for scouts to earn money for summer camp,   scout uniform parts or other scouting related expenses.

Eagle Scout Project Needs Your Help

On March 6th from 9am until 3pm Alex M. will be leading scouts who are helping him with his Eagle Scout project of documenting who is buried where as well as important date information on grave markers.

Scouts will meet in the church cemetery near the Wachovia bank on Tom Hall Street and scouts are asked to wear their activity uniform (scout related t-shirt) along with comfortable pants and shoes.

Drinks and snacks will be served along with lunch for those that work into the afternoon.

Scouts may come and go as their schedule dictates, but any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Please let Alex know that you’re coming with a quick phone call to 803 547-4534.
