Lost 108 Eagles Return To The Nest

Recently Mr. Gene Armstrong contacted us about not being listed on the troop website among those boys who had achieved the rank of Eagle with Troop 108.  He mentioned that two other boys who received their Eagle that year were also not listed. Gene was able to provide us with a photograph of six of the seven 1954 Eagles as it appeared in the Springs Bulletin (a publication of Springs Mills at the time).  We have now happily added Gene Armstrong, Terry Thackston and Billy Wilson to the Troop 108 Eagle Honor Roll.  Welcome home, Eagles!

ASC Greenway Campout Postponed

The ASC Greenway campout, originally planned for February 15-17, 2013 has been postponed until March 1-2, 2013.  Since the schools are out on the 15th and the 18th of February, participation was low as most families had made plans that prevented their scouts from attending the campout on its original date.  The focus of the rescheduled campout is still on working as a patrol, and we will welcome new scouts from Pack 108 with a bridging ceremony at 2pm on the 2nd of March.

Watch this website for the registration and permission slip for the the newly rescheduled campout.

Special Needs Awareness Presentation

On February 18th from 7 PM to 8 PM there will be a special needs awareness presentation at Belair Methodist Church in Indian Land, SC (Troop 275). This will be a combined class from Troops 108 and 275 that will include very important information and a great presentation from Eagle Scout Zach Schmitt from Troop 250. It will be an informative class to help educate everyone in the troop and pack about disabilities in scouting and how it affects their lives, with the main focus on Autism . This is for all youth and adult members of Troop and Pack 108. Please come to this very important class that will be beneficial for all in scouting. The address for Belair Methodist Church is 8095 Shelley Mullis Rd, Indian Land, SC 29707. See you all there.

2013 Scout Sunday

Troop 108 - Scout Sunday 2013

Youth and adult members of Pack 108, Troop 108 and Venture Crew 1110, all sponsored by Unity Presbyterian Church, gathered at Unity in observance of Scout Sunday on February 3rd.  We are so very appreciative of Unity’s partnership with our scouting units.  It enables our leaders to help boys and girls become excellent, well-rounded members of our community and our world.

Four Troop 108 Members Honored

ASM Brent Lowney, and troop committee members Doug Chambers, Rick Hoover and Doug Bartlett were honored for their hard work and dedication at the 2013 Skyuka Lodge OA Banquet on February 2nd. All were recipients of the Indian on the Mountain award – the highest honor that Skyuka Lodge can present.

Congratulations!

Merit Badge Expo Registration

MB Expo 2013 Patch - 01282013

The Troop would like to say a big THANK YOU to Committee Members Rose Hendel, Nichole Ludolph and Steve Finch for getting up at 2am and being first in line to register our Scouts for the upcoming Merit Badge Expo. Registration for this event is “First Come, First Serve” and was computer based on a server in Arizona and they wanted to make sure that our Scouts were able to take the courses they requested.

They were able to register 38 Scouts for 147 Merit Badges and with the exception of a very few classes where age restrictions forced a change, they were able to register the Scouts as requested.
Below is a copy of the current Troop registration in PDF format. Please check each event and note the prerequisites on the right hand side. Completion of these requirements prior to the event is very highly recommended.
