2011 Summer Camp Information
Troop 108 will be dividing up into two different groups for summer camp this year. Our first-year scouts will be attending the fantastic Upward Bound program at Camp Bob Hardin. This will really supercharge their journey toward First Class rank. Our older scouts will get a change of scenery by attending Camp Old Indian in Travelers Rest, SC. In reality, the two camps are only 30 miles apart.
Everyone will meet in the parking lot of Bi-Lo at the corner of Hwy 160 W. and Munn Road in Fort Mill at 10AM on Sunday, June 26th. Scouts should come dressed in full uniform (we always travel in full uniform). Scouts who don’t show up on time and we are not able to contact will be left for their parents to bring to camp.
Scout’s gear should remain in their vehicle while they check in with Miss Donna and Mr. Pat at our registration table. Once their check in is complete, they will be instructed to which of the two enclosed trailers to take their gear for transport to camp. It is very important that their gear be placed on the correct trailer so that it shows up at the correct camp.
We will be stopping at a fast food restaurant of some type on the way to camp for lunch. Scouts should have money to purchase their lunch on the way to camp on their person when we leave Fort Mill.
Each scout should also bring a full case of bottled drinking water and place it on the flatbed trailer that will be parked beside the enclosed trailer that his gear was loaded onto. This bottled water will be on ice in coolers and available for the boys throughout the week for hydration.
Some scouts (and leaders) may get a little homesick while at camp, so feel free to drop them some mail, but remember, it is probably a two-day journey from Fort Mill to our camps, so mail early using the appropriate address below. Remember, nothing says “We Love You” like some mail from home (and a couple of crisp dollar bills to spend at the trading post!). 🙂

Lastly, a reminder about not taking electronics to camp. Game systems, cell phones, MP3 players and such just serve to diminish your scout’s summer camp experience. If a leader sees your scout with electronics, know in advance that they will be collected for return once we get back home.
Note that we will expect to return to the Bi-Lo parking lot from our respective camps between noon and 2PM on Saturday, July 2nd. As we have a better idea of exact arrival times upon leaving camp on Saturday morning, we will update this webpage remotely. Make sure that your scout knows how to contact you via phone as we near Fort Mill so scouts and leaders can get unpacked and home as quickly as possible upon arrival in Fort Mill.
