Members of Troop 108 have been asked to help out with the haunted trail at the ASC Greenway this weekend. It will go from 5pm untill 10pm Friday night and Saturday nights until Halloween. Scouts should note that this event is not affiliated with scouting and that they should bring their own costumes and can where what ever they want but do not wear their field uniform.
Come to the Bruce Rush Pavillion side of the ASC Greenway to participate in this Howwwwllllinnnng good event!
Matthew H’s Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project will be at the band practice field at Nation Ford High School on Saturday, October 16th and Sunday, October 17th. Scouts should bring gloves and wear work clothes and expect to get muddy. The project involves building stairs on the hill overlooking the practice field.
Other tools that are needed are shovels, axes, picks and hammers.
Saturday – 7am until 11am
Sunday – 8am until noon.
This is an excellent opportunity for scouts needing service hours to get some for their next rank.
In the past the troop has collected the annual dues for each scout in January of each year and has extended “credit” to scouts who did not pay their dues in time. Sometimes that scout never returns and the troop is “out” the money it has paid on the scout’s behalf. This practice will end as of 2010.
Beginning this year, any scout who has not paid his dues by December 31st WILL NOT be included in the list of scouts on the following year’s charter. If that scout pays late, he will be required to fill out an application to rejoin the troop (all work toward merit badges and ranks will be retained for the scout when he signs back up with the troop).
Please make it your goal to have your 2011 dues paid no later than the Winter Court of Honor on December 13th this year, if possible.
Troop adult and youth leaders recently went through the list of scouts on our charter and moved some scouts around to make sure that all scouts are members of active patrols. This process also helped in the effort to prepare the troop for 20+ Webelos II scouts that will likely be joining the troop in the early spring of 2011.
New patrol leadership has been or will soon be elected and trained and the troop as a whole will continue to run smoothly under the leadership of our scouts with direction from our adult leaders.
Britt is working to finish up his Eagle Scout Leadership Project this Saturday, September 25th at 8:30am. We plan to work no later than 11:30am. Scouts should bring gloves, a nalgene bottle and wear clothes that can get dirty and get paint on them.
We will be installing a neighborhood sign for Briarwood Circle that closely matches the existing sign already at the other entrance to the neighborhood. Scouts needing service hours will be able to earn some at this event.
Alex H. will be working to complete his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project on Saturday, September 18th and finishing up on Sunday, September 19th, 2010 at Gold Hill Elementary School.
Alex’s project involves installing a walkway at the school so the students won’t have to walk down a muddy slope when it rains.
Alex can use the help of several scouts and parents in getting his project completed. Scouts will earn service hours toward their next rank.
Those interested in helping should arrive at Gold Hill Elementary School by 1pm on Saturday. We will work until 5pm. Arrive by noon on Sunday and we will work until 3pm.
Bring your Nalgene bottle and gloves. Wear old work clothes. Water will be provided.
Aidan I. will be working on his eagle project on September 18th from 8AM until 1PM at Westminster Park off India Hook Road in Rock Hill. Six to 10 scouts are needed to help with teaching non-scouts outdoor skills like first aid, fire building, safety, orienteering and direction finding.
Hours spent helping will count toward service hours needed for your rank.
Scouts should come prepared with a filled water bottle and a good attitude.
