Scouts BSA Troop 108, Fort Mill, SC
Just a reminder that this coming Sunday, February 3rd, is Scout Sunday. This is where we, as a troop, dress in our best scout uniforms and attend church at our sponsoring organization, Unity Presbyterian Church.
Troop 108 will be attending the early service at Unity. Scouts should be at church no later than 8:15am. We will sit together as a group.
We look forward to seeing as many of our scouts and leaders there as is possible.
District wants to push the start of Polar Bear to 11am.
However, Troop 108 adult leaders do not think it is a good idea to mess up troop gear or expose the boy scouts to this weather for a trip of less than 24 hrs.
We have canceled the event for the Troop 108.
The District Office has decided to proceed with the Polar Bear camping event scheduled for this weekend.
Due to the potential for inclement weather Friday afternoon and evening, the Troop Leadership has decided to postpone our departure until Saturday morning. All Scouts attending need to be at the Scout House by 8:00 AM.
The Troop Leadership will purchase food for Saturday Lunch, Supper and Sunday Breakfast.
The forecast for Saturday is a high around 50, but a low Saturday night around 25. Scouts need to be prepared for the cold and bring plenty of warm clothes and sleeping gear.
We will return Sunday around noon. Scouts will call with pick-up information when we prepare to leave the park.
The York District Activities Chairman was informed today by Westminster Park that due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, Polar Bear would need to be pushed back 1 week to January 25-27, 2013.
This was due to all of the rainy weather which caused problems with closing a water pipe construction ditch across the entrance to the park.
Join us at 9am on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 to start working on the chariots and catapult for the polar bear camporee later this month.
We will be meeting at a metal fabricating shop on Hwy 160 East. Just head toward Indian Land on Hwy 160 and as soon as you cross the bridge into Lancaster County, look for the shop immediately on your right.
