Angel Tree Opportunity

The past few years Troop 108 has sponsored a bicycle and helmet for a young boy or girl from the Unity Presbyterian Church Angel Tree.  This year we have again enthusiastically agreed to sponsor a bike and helmet for a deserving child.

If you would like to participate, please bring any donation to the next couple of meetings and see ASM Carter or Mr. Weller, our troop treasurer, to accept your kind donation.  We will be able take donations through the end of the troop’s winter Court of Honor event on December 10th.

Graham W To Conduct Eagle Service Project On October 13 – Help Needed

Graham W. will be working on his Eagle Scout service project on Saturday, October 13 at Fort Mill Elementary School (192 Springfield Pkwy, Fort Mill, SC 29715) from 9am to 4pm.

Lunch will be provided and scouts are strongly encouraged to bring gloves, safety glasses, and water. If they can also bring rakes, shovels, and a wheelbarrow that would be great as we will be moving a large amount of dirt for this project.

Scouts needing service hours can use this opportunity to help meet that requirement.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Scouts needing to earn service hours toward rank or who just want to help out may assist with an indoor, air-conditioned service project at Fort Mill Elementary School (192 Springfield Parkway, Fort Mill, SC) at 11AM on Monday, August 6th.

Troop Committee Chairman, Steve Finch will furnish lunch and drinks for those that are available to help.

We look forward to seeing you on August 6th at 11AM in the rotunda at Fort Mill Elementary.

The project involves installing a new sign and reworking some planting beds at this daycare center just north of Springfield Middle School.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear old clothes and bring gloves.  Russell is providing water and snacks for those that are able help.

Parking is $5.00 per car while spaces are available.

Scouts will be needed to assist with parking on both Friday evening and on Saturday and can sign up below for ~3-hour windows to assist with parking.

No Regular Meeting On April 30th – Good Turn Project Instead

Leaders and scouts of Troop 108 have the distinct privilege of providing a “good turn” for a member of our community on April 30th, 2018.  The person that we’re assisting is a long-time supporter of Scouting and has a now grown Eagle Scout son.

Scouts will earn service hours and those working on Citizenship in the Community can gain some service hour time for their merit badge service requirement as well.

Here are the specifics:

  • Our service project involves moving approximately 5 yards of dirt for a raised bed garden.
  • Scouts should be dropped off and picked up at 110 Patterson Street, Ft Mill (see map below)
  • Drop scouts off between 5 and 6pm.
  • Pickup time between 8 to 8:30 (scouts will call if we complete our tasks early)
  • Bring a BSA activity shirt (troop t-shirt or similar BSA related shirt)
  • Bring gloves, shovel and wheel barrow if possible.

This is a great opportunity for us to get out in our community and make an impact outside of roadside litter pickup or Scouting for Food activities during the year.

Earthday Celebration Service Hour Opportunity @ ASC Greenway on April 21st

Troop 108 will again be supplying their canoes for the public to enjoy as part of the Earthday celebration at ASC Greenway (Dairy Barn area) on April 21st.

Scouts should be dropped off just before 10:30am at the Dairy Barn and should pick them back up at that location at 3pm when the activity is complete

Scouts will not be canoeing, only assisting the public with enjoying the troop’s canoes as part of the celebration

Scouts are encouraged to sign up by logging into Troopmaster in the right column of this site.

Troop 108’s Scouts To Give Bicycle To A Local Boy For Christmas

The Unity Presbyterian Church Angel Tree supports local families by providing Christmas gifts to the family clients of the Fort Mill and Catawba Care Centers along with Family Promise and RAIN partners.

As in years past, Troop 108 is sponsoring a bicycle for a youngster in need.  We are giving a blue 24” bicycle to the program for a local 10 year old boy for Christmas.

Scouts and Scouting families that would like to contribute to this bicycle donation may place their donation in the special donation box set up at the next two troop meetings.

Thank you in advance for your support.
