Register Now For Our Upcoming Lake James Canoe Trip – July 27-29

Join us on this easy canoe trip to a campsite at Lake James.  It is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the troop’s canoes and nature.

Cost is $35.  Sign Up On Troopmaster.

Day 1: We’ll meet at Unity at 1PM and drive to Lake James State Park. Then paddle one mile in a canoe with gear to Long Arm Camping Area 1, setup camp on sites L05-L10, and cook dinner.

Day 2: We’ll cook breakfast at camp, paddle one mile to Paddy’s Creek Swimming Area, enjoy the swimming area, and each lunch at the concession stand. We’ll then paddle one mile back to camp, have some free time to fish or work on Scout skills, and then cook dinner.

Day 3: We’ll cook breakfast, break camp, paddle back to the launch area, and drive back to Unity.

Elective Activity For Summer Camp Available For Registration

Troop 108 is happy to team up with Green River Adventures for an elective troop kayaking adventure on Friday of our stay at Camp Bob Hardin this summer.  There is an extra cost of $32 per person for this exciting three-hour adventure down the Green River (located just over the mountain from Camp Bob Hardin).

Scout’s parents or guardians must complete and sign the GRA Participant Agreement located HERE and turn it in as soon as possible.  Scouts can sign up and pay through the link in TroopMaster in the right-hand column of this page.  

The only requirements to participate in this elective activity are:

  • Must wear closed-toed shoes (no sandals, no crocks)
  • Must have registered and paid through Troopmaster ASAP
  • Must have turned in a completed and signed GRA Participant Agreement

There will be activities at camp for scouts who choose not to participate in this elective activity with the troop.

Join Us for An ASC Greenway Campout November 3rd-5th, 2017

Where: Greenway  – Stumpy Bottom Lake area behind the Field Trial barn

 

When: November  3 – 5, arrive at Greenway’s Field Trial Barn area around 5pm on Friday and pick up at the same location around 10am on Sunday morning.

 

Cost: $10

 

 

 

 

Activities:

1) Cooking  (great opportunity to get Rank requirements around cooking. Also starting the Cooking Merit badge (Eagle required).

Dinner Friday: Dutch Oven Pizza’s – Leaders will provide Ingredients

Breakfast Saturday : Planned by Patrol

Lunch: Planned by Patrol – would recommend something easy

Dinner:  Patrol Competition – Judge by leaders (yum!)

2) Personal Fitness Merit badge (Eagle Required) will be started

3) Other activities planned by the Senior Patrol leader / Patrol leaders from the PLC!!!!!

This should be a fun weekend and a great time to get caught up on Rank Requirements!!!!!!! Plus great food.

Bagwell Farm Campout – February 17-19, 2017

We are very excited to announce that we will be having a patrol-based campout at Bagwell Farms located in McConnells, SC on Friday, February the 17th through Sunday the 19th. The cost is $15. We will be leaving the church by 5:00 and return by 1:00 on Sunday. It has been many years since we have been there and looking forward to finally go back.

This has always been a great campout and everyone has a fantastic time (ask the older scouts, they will tell you). Also if anyone needs some rank requirements items signed off, this outing presents an excellent opportunity to take care of that. Last day of sign up will be Monday, February 13th. Hope to see you all there.

Ski Trip Update & Meeting/Cookout

Those troop members planning to attend the upcoming snow skiing outing should plan to meet with Venture Crew 357 at their cookout and meeting on Wednesday evening, January 25th, at 6:30pm. at the home of Crew Advisor and Assistant Scoutmaster David Harllee (Second house on the right on Lakeview Drive when you turn off of Hwy 21 in Fort Mill, SC 29715)

If you haven’t yet signed up to attend this trip but are interested, there are still some spots available.  Just come to this meeting to get information and/or sign up.

Total cost for the trip is $150.00 which includes skiing, lodging and food.

With the start of Summer we’re having a tough time getting a feel for the number of scouts that plan to attend the campout/backpacking event coming up this weekend at the ASC Greenway.  To give us a better idea, we ask that scouts that are planning to attend use the appropriate sign up link below.

Camping & Backpacking at the ASC Greenway – June 17-19th, 2016.

A camping trip is scheduled for the Ann Springs Greenway Friday June 17th to June 19th . We’ll meet at 6pm on Friday at the Rush Pavilion and pick up at the same location at 8am on Sunday morning.  Cost is $15. We have two camping opportunities that weekend.

  1. Troop camping which includes service hours, working on rank advancement and camping as a troop.
  2. The Backpacking Merit Badge scouts will continue gaining experience backpacking.  We’ll cover 10 miles over the 3 days.  If you’re interested in Philmont this is great opportunity to get the experience needed for that trip. This is the last chance to join in the merit badge this year.

Backpacking At Crowders Mountain – April 11-12, 2015

A Crowder’s Mountain backpacking trip scheduled for Saturday April 11th and 12th. We’ll meet at 8am Saturday in Bi-Lo parking lot and return 10am on Sunday at same location.  Cost is $15. Trip will include a 5 mile day hike then about a 3 mile backpack overnighter.  This trip is designed for beginners.

Training classes to help prepare scouts are as follows:

Monday March 23– backpacking gear essentials and meal planning.

  • Monday April 6 – trail safety and gear shakedown.  Bring your pack ready to go. We’ll go your gear to help with needs vs. weight.

Note that the troop has some backpacking gear available which we’ll discuss on Monday March 23th.

Space is limited to 20 scouts and 5 adults.  Registration closes automagically on April 3rd, 2015.

Welcome New Webelos!

fluer-welcome-matNew Webelos scouts and their families, we welcome you to the Troop 108 family and look forward to helping your scout to grow and advance in scouting and in life.

Here are a few things that will help your scout transition into the troop:

Dues:  Each member of the troop pays their annual re-charter fee in December of each year.   As new members of the troop, your fee amount has been reduced to $40.00 and can either be paid in cash at a troop meeting or my using the payment button below (which actually charges $1.50 extra to cover transaction fees).

Medical Forms:  The troop needs a copy of your scout’s medical form (at least Parts A & B until summer camp) before they can participate in activities other than troop meetings.

Upcoming Campout: Registration for the camp out has been extended through Wednesday evening, March 11th, 2015.  You can register online using the registration form in an earlier post.

Summer Camp: See the earlier post regarding our troop’s summer camp plans and payment buttons.  It will be a lot of fun and our newest members will be able to participate in a program that will really help move them along the path towards First Class rank and earn a couple of other merit badges as well.

Crossover / Patrol Games Campout – March 13-14, 2015

webelos to scout transitionTroop 108 will hold a campout to welcome our newest members from local Webelos Packs and use this time for patrol focused games and activities at the ASC Greenway from 5pm on Friday, March 13th until 5pm on Saturday, March 14th, 2015.  Parents should drop off and pick up their scouts at the Rush Pavilion.

Those scouts who registered and paid for a previous trip that was cancelled, or wishes to use funds already on file with the troop may enter the word “CREDIT” in the coupon code during registration to have those funds used for payment for this event

A standard permission slip for this event will be available for download shortly.
