The council shooting sports committee is asking for the help of OA members with the York Dist Cub Scout Day camp. Helpers are needed for the Archery and BB gun ranges.
16 scouts are needed to assist on the ranges. The dates are June 17-20 with range “set up” on Saturday, June 15 at Bethelwoods Camp.

We really need your support to make the shooting sports part of day camp a safe and exciting experience.
Also, if any have canopies or pop-ups that can be used to cover the ranges, let me know.
Just a reminder that there is no meeting tonight as we will be holding our Summer Court of Honor tomorrow night in the Fellowship Hall at Unity Presbyterian Church.
The court of honor at 7pm will be preceded by a Parent’s Meeting at 6:30pm where we will discuss items of interest to the troop and especially our upcoming trip to Camp Ho Non Wah for summer camp.
Eli Whitesell extends an invitation to all from Troop 108 to attend his Eagle Scout ceremony on Sunday, May 19th, 2019 at 4pm in the Fellowship Hall of Unity Presbyterian Church.
A reception with light refreshments will immediately follow.

We’ll cover other things and answer specific questions about summer camp at the parent’s meeting prior to the Summer Court of Honor that is coming up soon.
Please note that we have scouts with outstanding balances for summer camp that need to be paid as soon as possible.
For the boys that will be attending Dixie Fellowship this weekend, we will meet at Mr. Harllee’s house at 4:30 PM on Friday April 26th. The address is 342 Lake View Dr. Fort Mill SC 29715.
We will be stopping to eat on the way up and will also be stopping on the way home to eat, so bring a little extra money for that.

The Aquatics Activity (swim test for summer camp) planned for May has been rescheduled and combined with the Troop Meeting on Monday, April 22, which will be held at The Complex.
Scouts should arrive dressed to “jump right in” and bring a towel and wear the red troop t-shirt and shoes which they can put back on once they’re out of the water. Goggles may also be worn, if desired.
We will be at the complex from 7pm to 8pm. Parents should pick up their scouts no later than 8pm.
Please also note that the Unity Youth Wing will be closed to Scouting the week of April 22 to host Family Promise.
Troop 108 will hold its annual BBQ and Brunswick Stew Sale on May 10th & 11th 2019 at Unity Presbyterian Church on Tom Hall Street in Fort Mill. Pick up times for the various products are listed below.

We will send you an email reminder a few days before the pickup dates and will likely give you a reminder phone call.
Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meetings are now being held on the last Monday evening of each month. These meetings are used by the youth leaders of the troop to plan the upcoming month’s program and outings.
These meetings typically have no opening or closing ceremony and are likely to end early once the upcoming month’s plans have been developed. Parents should be ready to pick up their scouts if the meeting ends early.
Any Scout needing scoutmaster conferences or boards of review may also attend these meetings to get those completed.
Just a reminder that any time our scouts are out of school on a Monday that we normally do not have a scout meeting that night.
Next week’s meeting (01-28-2019) is a Patrol Leader’s Council (PLC) and Board of Review night. Any scout is welcome to sit in on the PLC as they plan the upcoming month’s meetings and activities. These PLC meetings don’t usually last the normal full meeting length.
Keep in mind that we have a couple of important activities coming up that we’ll be posting additional information about:
—> Saturday, February 2nd – Scouting For Food Bag Dropoff. In the past this has been a fall event but we’re transitioning to a spring event to correspond with Scout Week and Scout Sunday.
—> Sunday, February 3rd – Scout Sunday @ Unity Presbyterian Church – Scouts are asked to attend in Full Uniform and arrive at 8:30am.
Sell Camp Cards And Fund Your Summer Camp Adventure
Troop 108 has received a limited number of Camp Cards for our scouts to sell. These will be available for scouts to check out at our meeting coming up on January 14th. These are are the biggest and best cards that have ever been offered with several snap-off one time use tags which leave the credit card sized multiple use card available to use again and again until 12/31/2019.
Scouts can elect to pay for the cards up front ($10 each) or they can check them out with a promise to pay for each of them as they are sold or return the unsold cards by the due date.
Five dollars from each card sold will go right into the scout’s account with the troop to be used on Summer Camp or other upcoming adventures.
Scouts should see Mr. Weller, Troop Treasurer, about acquiring cards at the upcoming meeting.
